Canada’s going DTV…..
Although the switch is not scheduled to occur until August 2011, Federal Industry Minister Tony Clement said he does not want delays in the transition from analog to digital television, despite warnings from networks and consumer advocates that Canada is not ready for such a change.
Approximately 900,000 Canadian households still rely on antennas, and therefore do not have televisions equipped to receive new digital signals.
As a result, the CRTC is calling for a public awareness campaign, and help for those consumers who need to upgrade their televisions or buy a satellite dish.
